How We Made It Happen

Velotio played a pivotal role in helping the client realize their vision for a comprehensive solution that addressed their broadcasting needs over IP.

Here's a detailed breakdown of the process and our involvement:

  • Feasibility Study: Our engagement began with an exhaustive feasibility study. This initial phase allowed us to gauge the potential challenges and set realistic expectations. It was instrumental in ensuring that both teams were aligned from the outset in terms of goals and deliverables.
  • Reference Card Deployment: Upon completing the feasibility study, Velotio dispatched reference cards, marking the onset of hands-on experimentation and testing. This step was crucial to understand the practical intricacies of the project.
  • Driver Validation: We dove into the technical details, testing the primary functions – capture and play out – in two distinct modes: ASI and SDI. We validated the Linux drivers provided by the manufacturer to ensure that these core functions operated seamlessly. The validation process involved rigorous tests conducted both by our local team and Video-Flow's RnD unit.
  • FFMPEG Integration: With the foundation set, Velotio proceeded to integrate the system with FFMPEG. This was a major milestone as it facilitated the required conversion modes such as SDI 2 SDI, ASI 2 ASI, ASI 2 SDI, SDI 2 ASI, SDI 2 IP, IP 2 SDI, ASI 2 IP, and IP 2 ASI thus enhancing the versatility of the solution.
  • Advanced Testing: Apart from the basic modes, our local team delved into meticulous testing of various resolutions and frame rates for the SDI mode. This ensured that the final solution was equipped to handle a wide array of broadcasting standards, offering Video-Flow unparalleled flexibility.
  • Ongoing Support: Recognizing the complexity of such a comprehensive system, the final step of our process was dedicated to providing support. Velotio's commitment didn't just end with deployment. We ensured that any post-deployment challenges were addressed promptly, ensuring the consistent performance and reliability of the solution.

In short, Velotio's involvement was characterized by a methodical approach, technical prowess, and unwavering commitment. Through continuous collaboration, rigorous testing, and timely support, we played an integral role in bringing Video-Flow's vision to fruition.

The project was structured in distinct phases to ensure systematic progress and to meet the specific requirements of Video-Flow. Here's a detailed breakdown of the phases:

  • Feasibility Study:

    - Description:
The project began with a comprehensive feasibility study to understand the potential challenges and validate the envisioned solution's viability. This initial phase set the tone for the entire project and laid the groundwork for subsequent phases.
    - Outcome:
Clear understanding of the project's requirements, potential challenges, and a roadmap for the following steps.
  • Reference Card Deployment:

    - Description:
This phase involved reference cards, initiating hands-on experimentation and testing. The deployment of these cards was pivotal for the practical implementation of the intended solution.
    - Outcome:
A functional setup ready for testing and validation of core functions.
  • Driver Validation:

    - Description:
This critical phase was dedicated to testing the primary functions, specifically capture and play out in the two modes: ASI and SDI. We rigorously tested the provided Linux drivers from the manufacturer to ensure optimal performance.
    - Outcome:
Confirmation of the Linux drivers' effectiveness and functionality for both ASI and SDI modes.
  • FFMPEG Integration:

    - Description:
With the successful validation of drivers, the focus shifted to software integration. This phase saw the integration of the system with FFMPEG, a crucial step to realize the required conversion modes and streamline video broadcasting over IP.
    - Outcome:
Established conversion modes: SDI 2 SDI, ASI 2 ASI, ASI 2 SDI, SDI 2 ASI, SDI 2 IP, IP 2 SDI, ASI 2 IP, and IP 2 ASI
  • Advanced Testing:

    - Description:
Beyond the basic functionalities, this phase was about refining the solution. The team delved deep into testing various resolutions and frame rates for the SDI mode, ensuring the system's capability to handle a diverse array of broadcasting requirements.
    - Outcome:
A versatile solution capable of catering to a broad spectrum of broadcasting standards.
  • Support & Deployment:

    - Description:
After ensuring that the solution met Video-Flow's standards and expectations, it was time for deployment. However, understanding the intricacies involved, this phase also included dedicated support to handle any challenges or tweaks required post-deployment.
    - Outcome:
A successfully deployed solution with the promise of continuous support for any arising needs.

Each phase of the project was meticulously planned and executed, ensuring a holistic approach to meet Video-Flow's unique challenges and requirements.
